This sweet wine is made from the iconic Château d’Yquem, located in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux. The 2017 vintage is a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, with grapes grown on clayey-calcareous soils that favor the development of “botrytis cinerea” or noble rot. Fermentation takes place in new oak barrels, followed by aging for about 20 months in the same barriques. The result is a wine with a bright golden hue, with complex aromas of exotic fruit, honey, apricot and floral hints. In the mouth, it is rich and velvety, with a sweetness balanced by lively acidity and a long, harmonious finish. Ideal in combination with foie gras, blue cheeses and fruit-based desserts.
