The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Clavoillon” 2021 is a white wine obtained from the renowned Domaine Leflaive, located in Puligny-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France.This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown according to the principles of biodynamic viticulture, a practice adopted by the Domaine from 1997.Il “Clavoillon” vineyard covers an area of 4.79 hectares and has been planted in several vintages, including 1959, 1960, 1962, 1972, 1973, 1981, 1983 and 1988.La harvest is manual, with careful selection of grapes to ensure the highest quality. The grapes are subjected to a long and soft pneumatic pressing, followed by a 24-hour decantation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels, 22% of which are new, for a period of 12 months. Subsequently, the wine matures for a further 6 months in vats, where it is prepared for bottling. Before bottling, the wine undergoes homeopathic clarification and, if necessary, light filtration. To the eye, the wine has a bright straw yellow hue. On the nose, it expresses a complex bouquet with hints of citrus, white flowers and hints minerali.in the mouth, it is refined and well balanced, with good acidity and a long finish with good persistence. This wine represents the refined expression of the terroir of Puligny-Montrachet and the mastery of the Domaine Leflaive in the production of great Chardonnays.

Founded in 1717, the domaine experienced an era of extraordinary growth under the enlightened guidance of Anne-Claude Leflaive, who introduced biodynamics as early as the 90s, setting a precedent for the whole region. The vineyards span around 24 hectares, including legendary Grand Crus such as Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as Premier Crus of exceptional finesse. In the cellar, winemaking is not very interventionist, with spontaneous fermentations, aging in woods selected with extreme care and an almost obsessive attention to detail. This is how wines are born that combine power and elegance, tension and creaminess, aromatic precision and extraordinary evolutionary capacity.
