Giacomo Conterno, Barolo France 2020, Bottle 750 ml

In the hills of Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, this Barolo is born from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the prestigious Francia vineyard, spread over 14 hectares with calcareous soils that give the wine a marked flavor. The manual harvest, carried out in mid-October, involves a rigorous selection of the bunches, leaving only one bunch per shoot. In the cellar, the grapes undergo a long maceration of 30-40 days in truncated conical vats of untoasted Austrian wood, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place in oak barrels for about 48 months. On the nose, the wine expresses an aromatic complexity with hints of withered flowers, tobacco, dark spices, cocoa powder, black cherry jam and blackberries, all wrapped in a deep balsamic veining. In the mouth, the taste is full, rich and substantial, but refined, with a harmony between softness and hardness. The finish is of infinite length and persistence on a balsamic background and hints of licorice.
