Giuseppe Quintarelli’s Amarone della Valpolicella is one of those wines capable of telling, with authenticity and depth, the most traditional soul of Valpolicella. Considered by many to be an absolute reference for the appellation, it is the result of patient and artisanal work that the Quintarelli family has been carrying out for generations in the hills of Valpolicella Classica, in the heart of Veneto.
Produced mainly from Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone, with small percentages of other native varieties, this Amarone takes shape through the traditional drying of the grapes in the drying rooms for about four months, followed by long fermentations and an aging that can exceed seven years in oak barrels. The result is an intense but never excessive wine, where elegance and complexity coexist with extraordinary naturalness.
Deep notes of black cherry, plum and fruit in alcohol emerge on the nose, accompanied by sweet spices, licorice, cocoa and light balsamic nuances. The sip is broad, warm and velvety, supported by very fine tannins and a freshness that lengthens the finish with balance and harmony.
It is a meditation Amarone, perfect next to braised meats, game and aged cheeses, but capable of giving the best of itself even on its own, in a moment to be dedicated to great Italian wines.
