Lodovico 2007 by Tenuta di Biserno was born from an ambitious project of the Antinori family, with the aim of creating a wine capable of expressing the most refined and profound soul of the Tuscan Upper Maremma. Produced in extremely limited quantities, it represents the most prestigious label of the estate and takes its name from Lodovico Antinori, a central figure in the birth of some of the most important wines of the Tuscan coast.
The vineyards are located in Bibbona, in an area influenced by the proximity of the sea and characterized by soils rich in minerals, clays and skeleton, ideal for Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The 2007 vintage, warm and regular, favored complete maturation and aromatic concentration, giving life to an intense but surprisingly balanced wine. After a rigorous selection of the grapes, aging takes place for about 16 months in new French oak barrels.
The flavor profile is broad and layered, with notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and ripe cherry intertwined with hints of cocoa, tobacco, graphite and sweet spices. On the palate it is deep, velvety and persistent, supported by elegant tannins and a freshness that accompanies its long evolution. A red wine with great character, ideal for important occasions and perfect alongside noble meats and game.
