The 2017 Château Angélus, Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”, is a test of balance. The Merlot leads the blend, giving a deep ruby color and aromas of blackberry and cherry, while aging in barriques (85% new) enriches the bouquet with mocha and sweet spices. Powerful but silky, it closes with an elegant persistence that belies the climatic difficulties of the vintage.
