Château Latour 2016 represents one of the most authoritative and profound expressions of Pauillac, a symbol of a Bordeaux tradition capable of crossing the centuries while keeping its identity intact. Premier Grand Cru Classé since 1855, it was born in one of the most suitable areas of the Médoc, where the vineyards overlooking the Gironde estuary benefit from an ideal microclimate for the slow ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2016 vintage was extraordinary for Bordeaux: after a rainy start, the dry summer and the significant temperature variations favored concentrated, perfectly ripe grapes with great balance. The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with quotas of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, ages for a long time in new French oak barriques, following a rigorous production philosophy oriented towards the maximum expression of the terroir.
The nose opens with intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry, followed by elegant notes of graphite, tobacco, cocoa and fine spices. The sip is powerful but impeccably harmonious, supported by silky tannins and a freshness that accompanies a very long and refined finish. A wine designed for great aging, ideal with important meats, game and moments dedicated to the great classics of world wine.
