The 2019 vintage of Château Trotanoy, located in Pomerol, is composed of 100% Merlot. The vines, grown on clay and gravel soils, benefit from an iron-rich subsoil, known as “crasse de fer”, which gives the wine depth and complexity. Manual harvesting ensures the selection of the richest grapes. Fermentation takes place in small cement vats, followed by aging in French oak barrels. On the nose, powerful earthy hints of crushed rocks, humus, iron minerals and truffles emerge, with a heart of ripe plums and blackberries, as well as hints of star anise and candied violets. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, with firm, ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a long, layered finish. A wine that expresses the power and elegance of Pomerol’s Merlot, ideal for roasted meat dishes and aged cheeses.
